  11. Sun has announced a "new enterprise name service" called "NIS+" which
  12. will be distributed "as a component of Solaris 2.0" with SunOS 5.0.
  13. NIS+ reportedly closes the passwd.adjunct map readability security hole
  14. and has new features.  An NIS+ server can operate in "compatibility
  15. mode" with (OLD) NIS clients.

  17. Although NIS+ will be available for sparcs and Intel x86, it will not
  18. be available for the Sun-3's nor will it be be distributed as a free
  19. security patch.
